Ice Skating

Our class had a blast on the ice today!

It was great fun having a go (even if some of us were a little bit nervous to start with)!  I loved watching your faces as you learned new skills and gained confidence in yourselves.  You were amazing!

I was really proud of the great attitude of our team and the fact that no one gave up, even if they fell more than once.

I was especially delighted with the way so many people helped those who were finding it tricky, or just needed a helping hand along the way.  You were really demonstrating all of those CARE values out there today.

I loved the way some people sang the song from 'Frozen' for us - You shone out there with your beautiful singing voices!

What a great way to end our school week...  I'm still smiling!

Thanks to Grace for the awesome photography.  :)

Keeping ourselves safe.

KEEPING OURSELVES SAFE.

We began this programme at school this week.  We have learned that many children still can't recall their home phone number/parent's cell phone number, or their home address.

Please work with your children to help them memorise these.  This may save their life one day!

Science in a van.

'Science in a Van' came to visit our school recently.  The dynamic duo taught us lots about Science in a really fun way!  Here are some of the pictures from the show...
What did you learn?

CROSS COUNTRY HELPERS NEEDED!

We are desperately short of parent helpers to come to the Cross Country at Long Bay reserve on Thursday 2nd June.  If you are able to help, please email me as soon as possible!  lkoya@torbay.school.nz

Without parent help we will be unable to go ahead with this event.

Thank you to all of the parents who responded to our plea for help!  Hopefully we now have enough helpers across our senior school to make sure this event can go ahead.

Rhythm Interactive!

On Wednesday 11th May, Johnny of 'Rhythm Interactive' came to visit our school. He was brilliant at passing on his expert knowledge of drumming to us, as well as sending out positive messages to us to share with others. We really enjoyed being a part of his aim to join the world together for a good cause... 'Together we can make a change!'

We are in our new classroom!

Yahoo!  After waiting all term, we have finally moved in to our new classroom this week.

The children did an amazing job, working together to move all of our furniture from one room to another.  I was impressed with their strength and the way they used their knowledge of maths to help them calculate the best ways to fit things through doors, down stairs and through other tricky spots to reach our new room.  Everything was moved in one block and it has now been set up for learning.  It is beginning to look and feel like 'home'!

If you haven't had a chance to come and check out our new space, you are very welcome to come for a guided tour with your child.
